Bandits Attack Prayer Ground in Kwara State, Kill Three, Abduct 15

TThe incident reportedly occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday while worshippers were holding a night vigil at the prayer ground.ragedy struck in Kwara State over the weekend as suspected armed bandits invaded a night vigil at a prayer ground at Ori-Oke Ajaiye, located on the outskirts of Ikiran Villagethe, Ekiti Local Government Area. The attackers reportedly killed at least three worshippers and abducted 15 others.

The community, primarily agrarian, has been left in a state of panic following the violent incursion.

Security agencies are currently conducting search operations in the surrounding forests. This attack is part of a broader trend of insecurity affecting remote regions across the country.

Local leaders have expressed frustration over the porous nature of security in rural areas and are calling for the urgent intervention of the state government and the military.

Kwara South is becoming entirely too vulnerable. The forests connecting Ekiti LGA to parts of Ekiti State and Kogi are dense and largely unpoliced. If the military doesn’t set up permanent forward operating bases there, these rural communities will completely empty out.
