The attackers reportedly killed at least three worshippers and abducted 15 others.

The community, primarily agrarian, has been left in a state of panic following the violent incursion.

Security agencies are currently conducting search operations in the surrounding forests. This attack is part of a broader trend of insecurity affecting remote regions across the country.

Kwara South is becoming entirely too vulnerable. The forests connecting Ekiti LGA to parts of Ekiti State and Kogi are dense and largely unpoliced. If the military doesn’t set up permanent forward operating bases there, these rural communities will completely empty out.

The CP mentioning the use of the Police Drone Team is a step in the right direction. You cannot fight bandits in those terrains without real-time aerial intelligence. The challenge is maintaining the battery logs and signal strength over thick canopies.
