South African factory workers, mostly women, protested in the streets demanding the return of dismissed foreign employees, warning that factories risk closure without their skilled labour in areas like machining.

“We want the foreigners to come back now!”

— Factory workers in South Africa have taken to the streets to protest the dismissal of foreign workers, warning that the move could disrupt production and put jobs at risk. They argue that many industries rely heavily on skilled foreign labour, with insufficient local workers available to fill the gap.

The irony is absolutely blinding! Just three days ago, on June 11, South Africa’s Home Affairs was bragging about a 46% increase in deportations and flying 268 Nigerians out of Johannesburg. Now, their own local factory workers are on the streets crying because the manufacturing sector is collapsing without foreign skills. God is indeed a uniform officer!

The fact that it’s mostly women protesting says a lot. They are the ones on the garment and assembly factory floors who know exactly who does the heavy lifting. They know that without these foreigners, their own daily bread is completely gone.
