Bishop Okonkwo’s driver arrested for killing him with a pestle and fleeing with his SUV and phones in Asaba

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a domestic staff member over the gruesome m¥rder of Bishop Clarence Chinedu Okonkwo of the End-Reconciliation Ministry, who was k+lled in his residence in Ibuso, Asaba, Delta State.

Reports indicate that the Bishop was att@cked inside his home yesterday by his driver, identified as Uchenna Nicholas Obiagwu, who allegedly struck him with a pestle before fleeing the scene with his Toyota Land Cruiser SUV, mobile phones, and other valuables.

Following the incident, the suspect reportedly attempted to dispose of the stolen vehicle. However, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu tracked him down through intelligence-led operations and arrested him in Onitsha this morning, alongside an accomplice, while they were allegedly trying to sell the SUV for N10 million.

Police confirmed that both suspects are currently in custody, while the stolen vehicle and other recovered items have been secured as exhibits.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said: “The stolen Prado Jeep has been recovered, and the suspects are in custody for further interrogation.”

He added that investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the criminal gang and determine the full circumstances surrounding the murder.

Toyota Land Cruiser for N10m? Even if the engine is missing, it’s worth more than that. The greed of the buyer who wanted to buy it is also part of the problem. They should arrest the intended buyer too!

The church members must be devastated. Imagine going to the Bishop’s house to see him and finding out the person he trusted most has ended him. It’s enough to make one lose faith in humanity.

This story is just heartbreaking. A Bishop who probably prayed for this driver and helped his family. To be killed with a pestle is so gruesome and demonic. We are living in perilous times.

N10 million for a Land Cruiser that is worth over N80 million? These criminals are not just wicked, they are also very stupid. Any buyer with sense would know that such a deal is a one-way ticket to prison.

I hope the prosecution is fast. We don’t want to hear that the suspect ‘escaped’ from custody. This case is too clear. Let the law take its full course so it serves as a deterrent to others.

Every driver and domestic staff reading this should know that there is no ‘shortcut’ that doesn’t have a ‘short-circuit.’ You can’t build a house on someone else’s blood and expect to sleep inside it.

Onitsha market is not a place to hide stolen cars anymore. The digital tracking and RRS presence there is too high. This criminal was just delivering himself to the police station.

The brother too followed him to go and sell the car? So the whole family is a crime syndicate? They didn’t even think twice about the blood on the car before trying to collect cash. God have mercy.
