Respected business mogul, and CEO C-Energy Oil and Gas Ltd, High Chief Christian Okonkwo, has emerged Entrepreneur of the Year at Anambra’s biggest award event held on Saturday 18th July, 2026.

Okonkwo who is equally the founder of Chris-Bethel Logistics, Chris-Bethel Real Estate and C-Energy pharmaceutical was honoured in recognition of his resilience, business success and contribution to enterprise development.

Okonkwo, while reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey, said his rise from humble beginnings was built on determination, perseverance and the courage to overcome setbacks.

He recalled starting his electrical business in Lagos with N30,000 raised by his parents after completing his education, describing the experience as the foundation of his business career.

According to him, entrepreneurship comes with risks, losses and challenges, but the ability to learn from setbacks and continue pursuing one’s vision remains critical to success.

“Whenever something failed, I gathered what remained and started again,” he said, noting that years of learning, hard work and experience had strengthened his capacity to build more successful ventures.

Other distinguished personalities recognised at the event included the Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke; Chairman of Fidelity Bank, Mrs. Amaka Onwughalu; Founder of Women Aid Collective (WACOL), Prof. Joy Ezeilo, OON, SAN; Executive Chairman of Zobis Electrical Wires and Cable Ltd, John Ezeobi; Chief Anthony Ikenna Obele (Okwunze Aguata); and Corporate Affairs Manager (East), Nigerian Breweries Plc, Iyom Joy Egolum.

The AMTY Awards organisers said the honourees were selected for their outstanding contributions across business, leadership, social impact and community development.
