Tetracore Energy Group Secures Nasarawa Power Licences

In a landmark move for regional energy development, Tetracore Energy Group (TEG) has been awarded the first-ever preliminary electricity generation and distribution licences in Nasarawa State. The licences were formally presented to TEG President & CEO Olakunle Williams by Governor Abdullahi Sule during the Nasarawa Investment Summit 2026. This milestone marks a critical step in the state’s “Bold Transitions” agenda to build a sustainable and industrial-friendly economy.

The newly acquired licences empower Tetracore to develop an Independent Power Project (IPP) driven by natural gas. The project’s first phase is designed to deliver 60MW of generation capacity, with plans to scale up to 150MW as industrial demand grows. This strategy is specifically targeted at key economic corridors, including Nasarawa–Toto, Awe–Obi, and Akwanga–Karu–Keffi, which are hubs for mining, manufacturing, and agro-processing.

Beyond just generation, the project includes the deployment of a 162 km 33kV distribution network to ensure that power reaches industrial and commercial clusters directly. This integrated “gas-to-power” approach aims to reduce the state’s dependence on the national grid and costly diesel generation. By aligning its gas infrastructure with power delivery, Tetracore is creating a reliable energy ecosystem that could serve as a model for other states seeking energy autonomy.

This expansion follows Tetracore’s successful commissioning of a 100MW gas-fired IPP in Ogun State, demonstrating the company’s execution capacity. The partnership with the Nasarawa State Government also includes a Head of Terms agreement to implement the State’s Gas Master Plan. This collaborative framework is expected to accelerate job creation and provide the necessary infrastructure for a 24/7 industrial environment in North-Central Nigeria.

This is a very valid point. Nigeria needs this conversation.
