Ogun Head of Service Highlights Capacity Building for Civil Service Efficiency

The Ogun State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, during a workshop for senior civil servants in Abeokuta, emphasized that continuous capacity building is the cornerstone of a modern and efficient civil service. He stated that the state government is committed to providing officers with the necessary skills and tools to meet the evolving demands of public administration. The workshop focused on digital literacy and performance management systems.

He noted that for the state to achieve its developmental goals, the civil service must transition from traditional bureaucratic processes to more agile and data-driven methods. This includes the adoption of e-governance platforms and a shift toward results-oriented performance evaluation. The Head of Service urged participants to embrace these changes to improve service delivery to the citizens.

The government has reportedly increased its budget for staff training and development in the current fiscal year. According to the Head of Service, these investments are already yielding positive results in terms of improved productivity and transparency in government operations. He encouraged civil servants to take personal responsibility for their professional growth and stay abreast of global best practices.

The initiative is part of a broader civil service reform agenda aimed at making Ogun State a leader in administrative excellence in Nigeria. Stakeholders have praised the focus on human capital development, noting that a well-trained workforce is essential for the effective implementation of government policies and the sustainable growth of the state’s economy.
