Exempting minimum wage earners from personal income tax is a good move, but with the way inflation is ‘shaking’ the Naira, the tax you didn’t take has already been eaten by the price of a loaf of bread.

Adams Oshiomhole asking us to make taxation a political debate is a ‘coded’ message. We should start asking candidates ‘How much tax did you pay?’ before we give them our votes.

Simplified tax code is what SMEs need. Most small businesses don’t have money to hire a consultant to explain 50 different types of levies. Give us one bill and we will pay.

Every time a Minister says ‘we need radical reformers,’ I wonder if they are ready for the ‘radical transparency’ that comes with it. Don’t just reform our pockets, reform the spending too!
