Kanyisola Ajayi Sets New World Lead

9.84s!!🤯🔥
World Lead ☑️
National Record ☑️
2nd fastest man in NCAA history ☑️

Kanyinsola Ajayi (Auburn) 🇳🇬 drops a big PB of 9.84s (0.7) to win his 100m heat at the East Regionals and qualify for the NCAA Championships!

He takes over the 100m World Lead in 2026.

9.84 seconds with a legal +0.7 wind reading is insanity for an NCAA Regional heat. He didn’t even wait for the National Finals to drop a bomb like this. He is officially the second-fastest man in NCAA history, trailing only Christian Coleman’s 9.82s.

He just shattered the Nigerian National Record! Olusoji Fasuba’s 9.85s record from Doha back in 2006 has finally fallen after 20 long years. Kanyinsola Ajayi is the new king of Nigerian sprinting!

The fact that he did this with a gentle 0.7 m/s tailwind means it’s pure, unadulterated power. If he gets a maximum legal +2.0 wind in the NCAA finals or Europe, we could easily be looking at a 9.7-low.

Auburn Tigers have done it again! Our sprints program is elite. Watching Ajayi coast through that East Regional heat looking completely relaxed while clocking a 9.84s was mind-blowing. SEC speed is simply different.
