With the current trend of events at the ADC following the outcome of the presidential primaries and the attendant agitations of the losers including Amaechi, would you say Peter Obi made a smart and intelligent foresight move to NDC?

Peter Obi completely outplayed everyone. While Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen were busy planning how to win delegates in ADC, Obi looked at the structural board, saw the ambush waiting, and moved his pieces to NDC. Brilliant foresight.

100% smart move. Look at the ADC results today—Atiku dropped 1.8 million votes from nowhere. If Obi stayed, they would have used standard Abuja political mathematics to relegate him to 3rd place. He protected his political capital.

The NDC move was an absolute masterstroke. By bringing Kwankwaso along, he fixed the biggest mistake of 2023: a fractured opposition. A joint Obi-Kwankwaso ticket under NDC is a mathematically viable threat to the incumbent.

When Obi left ADC on May 2nd, people said he was running away from a fight. Now look at the fight! Amaechi is shouting ‘concocted figures’ and the party is fractured. Obi’s instincts are elite.

Anyone who thinks Obi should have stayed in ADC to fight Atiku’s structures doesn’t understand Nigerian politics. You don’t fight a veteran on a field they’ve been buying since 1993. You change the venue.

It’s a smart move for now, but let’s not pretend the NDC is paradise. Now that Ovie Omo-Agege and other APC big wigs are defecting to NDC too, the same internal struggle for control will start. Nigerian politicians cannot coexist peacefully for long

Imagine if Obi was still in the ADC during this Atiku landslide. The media would be painting him as a defeated local politician. By being in the NDC, he remains completely untarnished by that circus.
