"Opposition is Dead in Kwara," Claims APC Aspirant Ahead of 2027

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has declared that the opposition parties in the state have “effectively collapsed,” leaving the APC as the only viable political force ahead of the 2027 elections. The chieftain cited the “massive defections” of former PDP members and the high approval rating of the state governor as proof of this claim.

According to the APC leader, the “Otoge” movement, which swept the party into power in 2019, has been institutionalized through inclusive governance and targeted infrastructure development. He noted that the opposition’s failure to provide a credible alternative has led to a sense of “political resignation” among their supporters.

However, some political analysts in the state have dismissed these claims as “premature and arrogant.” They argue that the internal friction within the APC, specifically the “camps” forming around potential 2027 gubernatorial aspirants, could create an opening for a reorganized opposition to stage a comeback.

The Kwara state political scene remains one to watch, as the ruling party attempts to maintain its dominance while navigating the complexities of internal power sharing. The opposition, though currently fragmented, is reportedly in talks to form a “grand alliance” to challenge the APC’s hegemony in the next election cycle.

That could be fiction of his own imagination.

Bukola Saraki is really cooking something for PDP

The Saraki factor is quiet, but not dead. Kwarans are very strategic voters; don’t underestimate them.

Massive defections to APC are usually about ‘stomach infrastructure,’ not conviction. They will defect back if the price is right.

The ‘Otoge’ spirit was about change. If the people don’t feel that change, they will ‘Otoge’ the current guys too.

Let’s wait for the local government elections. That’s the real ‘litmus test’ for the APC’s popularity.

Internal friction in APC is the real opposition. The ‘camps’ will destroy the party from within.
