Ibadan is the city of Warriors. Therefore today, I Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde FNSE announces my candidacy for the position of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2027 under the PDP-APM alliance

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially declared his intention to contest for the presidency in the 2027 general elections, making the announcement at a grand rally of the PDP–APM Alliance held in Ibadan.

The declaration, which drew a large crowd of party supporters, stakeholders, and political allies, marks a significant moment in the unfolding political realignments ahead of the next general election cycle.

The rally, held amid heightened political activity within the opposition space, saw supporters gather in their numbers to witness what many described as a defining step in Makinde’s national political journey.

Makinde’s announcement is expected to reshape discussions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its allied structures, as consultations and alignments intensify ahead of party primaries and broader electoral strategies.

Political observers say the declaration positions the Oyo governor as one of the leading contenders in early permutations for the 2027 presidential race, particularly within the PDP and emerging coalition platforms.

The PDP–APM Alliance rally in Ibadan also served as a platform for showcasing political unity among participating groups, with leaders calling for greater coordination ahead of future elections.

Supporters at the venue expressed excitement following the declaration, describing it as a bold step that signals renewed momentum within the opposition camp.

Further details are expected as reactions continue to trail the governor’s formal entry into the presidential race.

Ibadan is indeed a city of warriors, and Mapo Hall has seen many kings fall and rise. Makinde starting here is symbolic. He’s telling the establishment that he’s ready for the fight of his life.

The ‘crude-for-naira’ and other economic shifts will be his biggest talking points. He needs to show how he will leverage our resources better than the current administration is doing.

I respect his courage. It takes a lot to challenge the status quo in 2027. Whether you like him or not, Makinde has proven that he is a performer. This race just got very interesting.

I love his track record on civil servant welfare in Oyo, but the national economy is a different beast entirely. We need to hear his concrete plans for the naira and the removal of these bottlenecks choking small businesses.

Politics is a game of numbers. While the alliance looks good on paper, we need to see the grassroots mobilization. Are we just going to see rallies, or is there a structure being built in every ward?

Ibadan being the city of warriors isn’t just a slogan; Makinde is bringing that ‘never-die’ spirit to the national stage. If he can do for Nigeria what he did for the infrastructure in Oyo, then we are in for a real transformation.

The crowd at that rally was massive! You can tell the people are hungry for an alternative. If this PDP-APM alliance stays disciplined, they could actually pull off an upset against the incumbent.

The PDP-APM alliance is a strategic masterstroke. It shows that Seyi understands the math of 2027—you cannot win this race with a fragmented opposition. This coalition might actually be the third force we’ve been dreaming of.

Seyi Makinde has the intellectual depth and the ‘GSM’ magic, but let’s see how he handles the Northern power blocs. The presidency isn’t just about Southwest support; he needs to build bridges across the Niger very quickly.
